AWANA (愛玩樂)

We have a very exciting Friday night children’s program called AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) – 2 Timothy 2:15. AWANA is an international, Bible-centered youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs and programs for 2 year olds through junior high students. Our goal is to reach boys and girls, and their families, with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.

AWANA began in 1950 as a youth program at the North Side Gospel Center in Chicago, Illinois. Today, there are more than 9,000 churches in the United States that have AWANA Clubs. AWANA can also be found in over 2,700 churches in more than 110 other countries, from Argentina to Zimbabwe, from Iceland to Australia.

TCCBC offers a number of exciting AWANA clubs and programs, each geared to the needs of a particular age range as follows:

Puggles: is the AWANA Club for 2 and 3 year olds (Puggles clubbers must be 2 years old by Sept 1st). Children in Puggles are welcomed each week with playtime, songs, and simple crafts and activities. Leaders present age-appropriate lessons using large colorful teaching cards, finger puppets plays, and more. Lessons teach and reinforce four basic biblical precepts: God Made Everything, God Saw That It Was Good, God is Love, and Give Thanks. Puggles also allows Toddlers to have their very own AWANA Club like their older siblings.

Cubbies: is the AWANA Club for preschoolers during the two years prior to regular kindergarten, usually three and four-year-olds (Cubbies clubers must be 3 years old by Sept 1st).  Cubbies celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers (3-to-5-year olds) by helping them develop respect for God, His Son, and His Word.  Cubbies is unique because it supports and maintains parents as the primary source of spiritual nurturing by directly involving them in the teaching and learning process. Cubbies use the fundamental AWANA elements of games and activities, Bible memorization, handbooks, and awards.

Sparks: is the AWANA club for children in kindergarten through second grade building on the material taught in our preschool clubs. Sparks ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ. The curriculum takes kids a step deeper into God’s Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational teaching at the preschool level, boys and girls frequently come to an understanding of their need to trust Christ as their personal Savior while in Sparks.

T&T (Truth & Training): reflects the passion of AWANA to teach third through sixth grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. T&T engages third-through sixth-graders by answering their questions about God and the Bible, guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ’s grace. It is comprised of two clubs with distinct curriculum, uniforms, and awards. T&T Ultimate Adventure is for third and fourth graders. T&T Ultimate Challenge is for fifth and sixth graders. Our goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow – today.

Trek: is the junior high school program from AWANA’s youth ministries. Trek challenges middle-school students to consider their destiny in Christ and pursue it through life application of God’s Word. Trek takes the best of AWANA’s 25 years of junior high school ministry experience—and makes it even better! Trek enables us to reach junior high school students, while continuing to emphasize strong biblical teaching and discipleship training.

Our AWANA Program meets on Friday nights from 7:25pm-9:00pm, during the school year. We are off during the summer.

We encourage parents who are interested in getting their children involved in the AWANA program to contact us through email or by calling the church for more information and an updated schedule.  To register for AWANA please click here.
