Operation Christmas Child
We praise and thank God for another wonderful time of fun and fellowship as our church served as a Relay Center for Operation Christmas Child! For those of you unfamiliar with Operation Christmas Child (OCC), it is a Missionary organization reaching out to underprivileged children by sharing the Gospel through the use of “shoe box” gifts. Last year over 11 million children received a gift and heard the message of the Gospel.
Our church serves as a Relay center for people in the Tri-City area to drop off their gift boxes. We then pack up the boxes into large cartons which we deliver to the 3 Crosses Church in Castro Valley which is main drop off center for Alameda County.
This year we had over 45 volunteers helping over the collection week from November 14-21. We were open for 2 hours each day and we collected over 2400 shoe boxes during the week. Last year we collected a little over 1100 boxes, so we more than doubled our numbers!
Some days were slow and other days were very hectic, but every day was a blessing for everyone who served. We met many other brothers and sisters in Christ from churches all over the Tri-City area. It was also a fun time of fellowship serving with others from all three of our congregations. Many thanks go out to all the volunteers that came and gave of their time!
We know that every child is precious in God’s eyes and He can use every box that came through our church to bring another child to come to know Him!
