Fellowship We at Tri-City Chinese Baptist Church believe that fellowship is one of the most important purposes of the church. Members of the very first church, in chapter two of Acts, had close fellowship with each other. This closeness consisted of their common beliefs, their willingness to share material things, the experience of communion in the Lord's Supper, and sharing prayers. Luke wrote: · "And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." [Acts 2:41] We believe that we are called to imitate Christ’s sacrificial love first and foremost in our attitudes toward one another, and we want this to be reflected in our fellowship. The Apostle Paul told the church in Philippi: · "Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ … standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel … If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus." [Philippians 1:27-2:1-5] We believe that fellowship is an integral part of evangelism and that evagelism is an integral part of fellowship. For we as a body are inviting others to have fellowship with us in Jesus Christ. The Apostle John wrote to all the churches: · "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched--this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete." [1 John 1:1-4] In addition to our Sunday worship and Sunday school classes, here at TCCBC we have several weekly and monthly fellowships where we are always glad to have visitors. These groups often meet in people’s homes and usually include food. We also have Bible studies, but they are less formal than the studies in Sunday school and are designed for more sharing and discussion. We also often go on various outings together, from A’s games to musicals to skiing in Tahoe. Please feel free to explore the different fellowships listed below. If you have any questions, we encourage you to send an email or call the church. We’d love to see you. |
